Why Coal Miners?

They mined a fuel that powered our country…and gave us an amazing meat snack in the process. Coal Miners worked grueling jobs for hours on end often traveling a great distance to the mines on foot. They needed a portable and shelf stable snack that could power them through each shift. Luckily many of them had come to the United States from Italy, bringing an affinity and knowledge of cured meat.
